The Bradenton Times Polls

Poll Question: Which of the following best describe how you feel about elementary school security?

We should have a county deputy in every school, even at an average cost of $144,00 each  We should spend the current $1 million budgeted on 7 roaming deputies  The budgeted funds should be spent on better securing the buildings; ie. security doors, lockdown switches, cameras, etc.  The funds should go to educational needs and any police presence should be a function of law enforcement in that community and its budget More polls »

The message of "Dream Big," in celebration of the life and leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is one that inspires the promise of youth and hope of our community. The shirt design and message was commissioned by the City of Palmetto CRA in support of the Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration and will be handed out by Palmetto City Commissioners taking part in the MLK parade on Saturday, January 15th at 12PM.  Tyrell Waiters was born and raised in Palmetto, Florida. He attended Bayshore High School and graduated in 2007. After graduating, Tyrell enrolled at State College of Florida for two years to pursue his dream and a career in fine arts. After his second year at SCF, Tyrell was given the opportunity to attend Ringling College of Art and Design under a Presidential Scholarship. Tyrell is currently an Illustration major and longs to have a career as a storyboard artist for animated movies and cartoons. Tyrell says, "As of now I have a long way to go, but I have come a long way as well. So I have faith that my dreams will come true as long as I continue to pursue them in the way that I have been."
