Immigrants from Greece, Demetrios and Helen along with son Gus and
Helen’s sister Paula, moved to Bradenton in 1976 in search of a better
life. With recipes from the old country and help from family,
"Demetrios' Pizza House" was formed.
Working diligently they quickly attracted customers from all over the
area because of the great food, outstanding service and low prices. 1982
was a landmark year as the group applied and obtained American
citizenship. As Bradenton grew so did the family business.
In 1987 a small waiting area addition was completed. The family worked
harder then ever now as the business grew.
"Community involvement is a priority for us" says Gus. "We live here, we
work here and we contribute to our town". 1993 saw another minor
remodel as the family felt it was important that the appearance of the
restaurant be upgraded to keep up with the changing times. Still very
much involved in area activities the business is thriving.
In the summer of 2000 the immense change came in the form of a complete
roof-off reconstruction and enlargement of the restaurant. 2007
completed the full circle as the "American Dream" had been realized.
Demetrios' Pizza House was named by the Manatee Chamber of Commerce the "2007
Small Business of the Year". It is also the eleventh year in a
row that the readers of the Bradenton Herald have named us "Best
Pizza Place".
