Mary Dacey

Mary Ellen Dacey, 82, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024. She was born on September 9, 1941, to Martin and Stephina Moriarity in Binghamton, New York. Mary Ellen is survived by her beloved husband, William (Bill) Dacey.

On June 1,1963, she married the love of her life, William Francis Dacey, at St. Patrick's Church in their hometown of Binghamton, New York.

After getting married, Mary Ellen and Bill moved to Akron, Ohio, for a short time, after her first son (William) was born. They then moved back to Binghamton, where her second son (Daniel) and daughter (Patricia) were born. In 1968, Mary Ellen and her family moved to Suffern, NY, where she and her family lived for 17 years, and her third son (Joseph) was born.

Mary Ellen was a very active mom, always known for having a full house of kids and making everyone feel welcome. Mary Ellen became an instrumental figure in her sons' Little League community and ran the snack bar at their local ball field for many years. In 1985, Mary Ellen and her family moved to Mahwah, New Jersey, where they lived for 10 years. She and her husband, Bill, then moved to Montvale, NJ, where they resided for 13 years. In 2008, MaryEllen and Bill moved to Waretown, NJ, where they lived for 4 years, spending winters in Bradenton, FL. In 2012, Mary Ellen and Bill left NJ and moved to Bradenton full-time, settling in a retirement community known as Hawaiian Village.

Mary Ellen spent the last 12 years living in Bradenton, surrounded by friends and family. Mary Ellen could often be found helping her husband, Bill, organize and execute many enjoyable and charitable events in their community.

Mary Ellen loved vacationing at Fort Myers Beach every February at The Estero Island Beach Club, where she and her husband owned a timeshare. She enjoyed reuniting with her family each year and reconnecting with the many friends they had made over the 41 years they spent going to Ft. Myers Beach.

Mary Ellen also loved traveling to Saint Martin and staying at their timeshare in the Towers at Mullet Bay. She loved the perfect weather and going to their favorite restaurants year after year with her friends and family. Over 27 years, Mary Ellen and Bill became well-known around Mullet Bay. Mary Ellen looked forward to going every April and seeing familiar faces. She was met with the same warmth and enthusiasm she bestowed upon those around her.

Mary Ellen was an avid reader, a talented crocheter, a crossword puzzle enthusiast, and an ardent New York Yankees fan with a strong passion for animals, especially dogs. Her love for dogs was paramount, and she shared that love with her children and grandchildren. Mary Ellen was also an excellent cook and loved trying and sharing new recipes.

Mary Ellen leaves behind a legacy of love for her family. She is survived by her children, William Dacey (whose wife Joan preceded him in death) of Wyckoff, NJ, Daniel Dacey (and wife Christina) of Mahwah, NJ, Patricia Dacey of Bonita Springs, Fl and Joseph Dacey(and wife Courtney) of Apollo Beach, Fl and her cherished grandchildren, Kendall, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Emily, Tristan, William, Ryan and Erin and great-grandchildren Rylee, Oliver and Evelyn, as well as her sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Butch Buchinsky.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradenton, Florida. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34207, is in charge of the arrangements.
